My surgeon did a Right 8th rib segmental resection that required thoracoplasty using Gore-Tex mesh.

"The right chest was entered since pleura was intimately attached to the rib. After the costal muscles were divided using electrocautery below and above the rib, the specimen was removed. The defect in the right lateral chest wall was approximately 15 x 7 cm. The decision was made to close the defect with a Gore-Tex patch. A 10 x 15 cm Gore-Tex patch was brought in the operative field, tailored according to the size of the defect, and following that the Gore-Tex mesh was sutured to the chest wall using 0 Prolene interrupted sutures. The mesh was sutured in a position so it was laying inside of the chest."

I was going to use 21600 for the partial rib resection but I am not sure that the procedure fits a 32905 for the thoracoplasty or if the thoracoplasty should be considered part of the 21600. Any guidance would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Erin
