Just when I thought I'd heard everything, I get a query from a practice manager wanting to know if we could still bill the interpretation for a thyroid U/S taken in our Endocrinology practice (they own the equipment, so we usually bill it globally). Here's the thing.....they somehow (?) deleted the image, after the provider documented his interpretation and report. Without the image for backup, should we still bill the U/S with the -26? After all, he did the work.....

Part of me thinks that we can separate this out without the image, but I'm wondering if it's OK to bill the professional component without also having access to the source image. Anyone want to weigh in on this?

Thanks, Pam
