Patient had a previous Unicondylar knee done. Now converting to Total knee arthroplasty.

Would I use 27487 ? Somehow that doesn't seem right . . . .

Would appreciate help, please

There currently is not a CPT specific for conversion from a Uni to a Total. Here's a link to a good article about how to code this scenario:

AAOS Bulletin, October 2003: http://www2.aaos.org/aaos/archives/bulletin/oct03/code.htm

I've checked with several of our biggest insurance carriers and they want me to code this as 27487-52.
