this pt had surgery , wound vac and drains prior....im just questiong this day and type of closure TIA
On the day of surgery she was brought into the operating room and placed in the supine position on the operating room table. General endotracheal anesthesia was administered. Her existing NG tube was frequently clogged and this was removed and replaced by Anesthesia. The VAC dressing was removed. The 3 Jackson-Pratt drains on the left side were removed. The abdomen was prepped with Betadine solution. Betadine solution was also poured in the wound. The wound was generously irrigated with 2 liters of normal saline. The abdomen was then closed with 2-0 Prolene vertical mattress stitches at approximately 4-5 cm intervals and then packed intermittently with one-inch AMD gauze and dry sterile dressing. The patient tolerated the procedure well and was extubated and brought to the Recovery Room in satisfactory condition.
