Wiki Wound vac-experience coding

Does anyone have any experience coding for a wound vac, 97605?? Wondering if a modifier is necessary as this was placed during a surgery and also reimbursement? There are no set RVU's for this that I've found.

No it does not need a modifier as long as the physician has documented well on why a wound vac was necessary. I think they are about $52 for the physician fee. Not sure on the techinal portion.

Depending on the payer it could be bundled into the intial dressing application, documentation would be the key to determine why a wound vac would be necessary over a traditional dressing. This may require appealing the procedure if it is denied. Payment is at the decresion of the insurance company.
