WARNING: Non-Specific Codes Will Not Be Supported After October 1, 2016
CMS' one-year grace period to use unspecified codes is coming to an end. Non-specific codes, like the codes used when converting ICD-9 to ICD-10, will not be supported after October 1, 2016. At the same time, there are more than 2,700 ICD-10-CM changes coming in 2017. Many affect diagnosis codes, such as diabetes and other commonly used codes used by healthcare professionals. The impending updates will require you to produce codes with more precision and specificity.
