As our Sr. Customer Service Representative in Public Health you will perform and coordinate a variety of important administrative and customer service based duties which include managing federal and commercial insurance claims.

Essential Duties

As part of the customer service team you will work with other team members to create a strong customer service environment to meet the needs of our clients and staff. 

  • You will take a lead role in the medical claims process while collaboratively working with other teams to address procedural changes that impact the billing process while reviewing and updating billing contracts. 
  • Duties will include but are not limited to processing private insurance, Medicaid, Medicare and various other medical claims, answer billing questions, address claim denials and submission discrepancies.
  • You will also communicate with insurance companies to resolve disputes and claim denials, accurate and precise data entry in an electronic health record database, reporting of daily activities, ability to perform medical billing functions and troubleshooting using ICD-10 conventions, develop and compile appeals, clarify payment responsibilities, verify and confirm payment and outstanding balances as well as perform other general administrative tasks that support the daily functions of the Public Health Department.
  • You will accurately manage patient accounts in an electronic health record database while reporting daily activities and discussing billing updates amongst other members of our billing group.
  • This position will verify, confirm and report payment and outstanding patient balances. 

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent certificate
  • Minimum of one year experience in customer service, medical billing, medical coding, and/or similar.
  • Must be able to keep HIPAA client confidentiality and protect the privacy of client information.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three years medical billing and medical coding experience
  • Understands medical coding using ICD10, CPT, HCPCS, and modifiers
  • Medical coding certification
  • Experience working with  Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurances
  • Experience in a medical clinic or public health environment
  • Experience with electronic health record software and proficiency in using Microsoft office products

Additional Information:

  • Offer of employment contingent on criminal history, MVR check and education verification.
  • Must provide immunization record or prove immunity to comply with departmental Communicable Disease Control Policy within thirty days of hire.
  • Must have valid driver's license, if you are from out of state, you must obtain a valid Colorado driver's license within 30 days of hire date and you must not have any major violations, nor more than one DUI, DWI, DWAI conviction in the past three years.
