Medical Billing Supervisor
Established ophthalmology office of
eight providers in Syracuse, New York is looking for a Medical Billing Supervisor
to join our team. This position is responsible for leading and planning the
billing operations of the medical practice including enforcing and streamlining
billing policies and procedures. The supervisor assists in the day-to-day
accounting functions in accordance with cost reimbursement principles and
reports to the Practice Manager.
Qualifications and skills required:
- Current CPC certification
- Minimum of 5 years medical billing experience, 3 years in
a supervisory role
- MEDENT experience required
- Computer efficiency
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills,
patience, tact and a cheerful disposition
? Assist in the day-to-day functions of
? Supervise three employees. Assign and delegate work.
? Streamline billing and collections processes.
? Implement written procedures.
? Quality assurance for all processes.
? Working knowledge of CPT and ICD10 codes,
electronic and paper claim forms, billing,
insurance benefits, denials and the appeals process.
? Charge entry, claims submission, payment
posting, reimbursement management,
verification, posting surgeries.
? Balances and reconciles accounts receivable
? Maintains timely, accurate billing
? Conduct interviews, training, staff
meetings, staff education and annual staff reviews.
? Internal chart reviews.
? Respond to external chart reviews to ensure
continual internal improvement.
? Educate staff on coding/billing trends and changes.
? Collaborate with the intake staff to ensure
the collection of accurate patient
? Work closely with Practice Manager on
insurance contracts and maintain accurate fee
? Establish good working relationship with
local insurance representatives.
? Keep merchant services accounts current
including software updates and
? Receives and resolves patient billing
? Patient confidentiality.
? Manage multiple projects concurrently.
° Works in an office area and sits, stands,
bends, lifts and moves intermittently.
° Is subject to emotionally upset patients,
family members, visitors, etc.
° Is subject to frequent interruptions.
° Participates in continuing education.
° Communicates with medical staff regarding
billing, insurance related issues.
time day shift 8:00 am – 5:30 pm. No
