Certified Coding Specialist

 

Naugatuck Valley Radiology’s Billing Office in Southbury, CT is searching for a full time, 35-40 hours per week, Certified Coding Specialist to analyze all procedures performed in our network. Performs research, analysis, recommends effective CPT & ICD-10 diagnoses coding utilizing our coding software tool to ensure compliance with third party payers requirements and government regulations.

 

Job Description Summary

 

Responsible for all CPT and ICD10 coding to ensure compliant billing. Maintain procedure and policy requirements for Gov. Medicare and Medicaid and all payers. Edits all charges for accuracy by procedure code and diagnosis code per insurance carrier, government requirements, office policy and procedure, review all account data and documentation for completeness and accuracy. Tracks and records errors regardless of source. Reviews and analyzes rejected claims due to diagnosis and procedure codes and takes timely action to correct submissions and receive payments. Develop and report on procedures to reduce the number and frequency of denials. Maintain positive communication with facility reception staff and referring physician staff. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume facility with accuracy and compliance is a requirement for this position. Contribute to the efficient office operations in a team environment. Promote superior customer service at all times. Adhere to confidentiality and privacy practices.

 

Requirements

 

  • High School graduate or GED required. Associates degree in Business/Healthcare related field preferred. 
  • RCC or CPC certification required. Radiology coding experience preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience related to coding & billing and healthcare claims.
  • Required knowledge of insurance carriers and medical billing processes.
  • Knowledge of reimbursement procedures, billing and collection laws, accounts receivable practices, third party claims and diagnostic coding.
  • Proficiency with healthcare billing computer systems, Coding Software Applications, Microsoft Excel and Word. Self-starter, detail-oriented, team player, positive interpersonal and customer service skills, and ability to effectively present and communicate.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and research skills with ability to meet deadlines with accuracy and completeness.
  • Previous health care industry or physician practice coding experience required.
