Southeastern Cardiology, Pediatric Acute Care of Columbus & Pediakare of Newnan Coding

·         Primarily responsible for the medical coding for Southeastern Cardiology Associates, ensuring that all medical coding used is timely and in compliance with all laws and regulations to ensure optimum reimbursement and compliance.

·         Acts as back up for medical coding for Pediatric Acute Care of Columbus and Pediakare of Newnan as directed

·         Demonstrates proficiency in using Payer and coding websites to stay up-to-date on coding issues, coding changes, or other that affects compliance and reimbursement and shares appropriately with the rest of the staff.

·         Coding responsibilities include office and testing procedures done within the office as well as hospital visits, reads and procedures

·         Identify, compile and code patient data, using ICD-10-CM, CPT & E&M and other standard classification coding systems

·         Works with medical staff to review records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with regulations, performing coding audits on providers on a quarterly basis

·         Demonstrates the ability to quickly identify and investigate possible coding compliance issues and trends; performs thorough and complete investigation and reports any significant findings to the attention of the manager in a timely fashion.

·         The certified coder must be able to maintain a timely turn around with their assignments to keep up with the flow of the billing team


Education and Qualifications:

·         High school graduate or GED equivalent

·         Current AAPC, CPC coding certification required

·         Proficiency in anatomy and medical terminology

·         Experience in cardiology coding preferred
