Sacramento Heart & Vascular Medical Associates is one of Northern California’s foremost specialty groups in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease. We have an immediate opening for a full-time Certified Medical Coder/Charge Poster, seeking employment in a fast-paced environment. This position works out of the main office (centrally located in Sacramento, CA).
Role and Responsibilities
The Certified Medical Coder/Charge Poster is responsible to charge input through the careful review of source data provided by accurately recording demographics and charges associated with patient information and insurance. The position supports the company’s overall operations and client services by efficiently and effectively providing account data needed for the revenue cycle process and delivering results.
•Accurately process and post office charges, Nuclear testing, Echo testing, Vascular testing from an E-super bill from the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
•Ability to work overtime as needed to meet posting production during each month and at month end deadlines.
•Understands and remains updated with current coding and billing regulations and compliance requirements.
•Comply with all legal requirements regarding coding procedures and practices.
•Maintains a working knowledge of all health information management issues such as HIPAA and all health regulations.
•Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and staff.
•Collaborate with Billing Manger regarding coding and billing.
•Effectively and efficiently communicate with physicians and billing manager about coding procedures performed.
•Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
•Review coding questions from other billers.
•Perform other duties, as needed.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
•HS Diploma or GED program.
•Certified Coder certificate required.
•Previous Medical posting experience consisting of 2-3 years in a Cardiology practice.
•Understanding of medical billing, collections and payment posting, revenue cycle, third party payers, Medicare; strong knowledge of California and Federal payer regulations.
•Working knowledge of CPT and ICD10 codes, HCFA 1500, UB04 claim forms, HIPAA, billing and insurance regulations, medical terminology, insurance benefits, and appeal process.
•Experience with ASC (Ambulatory Surgical Center) coding regarding Pacer’s, ICD’s.
•Experience in UB facility billing for various private and Mcal GMC based insurances.
•Knowledge of healthcare policies for all clinical practices and applicable laws and regulations governing proper clinical practice; ability to demonstrate ethical behavior in diverse situations.
•Attention to detail, able to prioritize workload.
•Able to work independently and as a member of a team.
•Proficient computer skills
•Excellent written and verbal communications skills
•Strong organizational and planning skills
•Proficiency in MS Office and Patient Management software
•Bilingual preferred
