Position is full-time and onsite.  Hours M-F 8 am-5 pm     

Seeking a certified medical coder who takes medical reports and converts them into ICD-10/CPT/HCPCS codes for billing purposes. Audits medical claims to ensure compliance with the organization's coding procedures and standards, provides departmental support as directed by the Revenue Cycle Manager, and is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation, submission of claims to payers and intermediaries.  Performs all charge entry and procedural code audits.

• Maintain and control of unbilled patient encounters, office, ASC, hospital, and Pathology.

• Scrub claims for clean electronic submission to a clearinghouse.

• Prepare and submit paper claims to primary and secondary payers.

• Communicate with physicians on issues regarding CPT & ICD-10 coding selections.

• Code in compliance with CMS

• Protect the security of medical records to ensure confidentiality is maintained.

• Ability to identify coding trends and areas of risk.

• Create and/or update the patient’s demographics and insurance information for new and established hospital patients.

• Other duties as assigned 

Essential Skills:

• CPC Certified

• 2+ years of experience in a clinic setting

• Preferred experience in Spine, Orthopedic or Pain Management

• Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 codes

• Overall knowledge of business office procedures and policies (required)

• Thorough knowledge of third-party payers, HMO’s, PPO’s, Medicare and Medicaid.

• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

• Correct coding for diagnosis and procedures.

• Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

• Methodical and detail-oriented

• Effective writer and oral communicator

• Ability to multi-task

• Production-minded

• Strong work ethic
