The New Mexico Cancer Center is seeking
a full-time Certified Medical Oncology Coder for our Albuquerque,
New Mexico clinic.
The Certified Medical Oncology Coder will work
on-site and will be responsible for ensuring all procedures are coded
appropriately for all hospital, infusion and radiology claims. In addition,
this position needs to remain current on coding/billing regulations as it
pertains to Oncology, Hematology, and Radiology as well as any CPT, ICD10 or
HCPCS updates. The successful candidate must have exceptional
computer, communication, and organization skills.
Other duties include, but are not
limited to, the following:
Planning, performing, and documenting all Coding Compliance
audits as scheduled in the annual plan and/or as needed per management request
or if there is a known change in risk.
Ensuring compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations.
Serving as a resource to the practice to furnish and obtain
information on accurate and ethical coding as well as documentation standards,
guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
Providing coding guidance to the other areas of the billing
department including but not limited to Accounts Receivable and Prior
Monitoring coding and documentation accuracy by performing
regular audits of areas of potential risk.
Two years working as a medical coder with experience in
the specialty of Oncology/Hematology , medical terminology;
Ability to work under minimal supervision;
Strong organization skills;
Ability to determine priority assignments and certification is
required through the AAPC or comparable organization.
