Professional Coder (CPC), Office-Based
Conshohocken, PA 19428
Professional Coder is responsible for serving as a key resource for medical coding
matters. Performs reviews and audits and codes medical records to ensure the
appropriate diagnostic codes and modifiers are used per Generally Accepted
Medical Coding Guidelines, ICD-10 Guidelines and the CMS National Correct
Coding Initiative. Participates in the implementation of the organization’s
Coding Proficiency program. Interfaces and disseminates audit results to
clinicians and management and provides guidance to practices on improving coding
Consistently exhibits behavior and communication skills that
demonstrates Tandigm’s commitment to superior customer service, including
quality, care and concern with each internal and external customer.
Performs quarterly audits of clinical documentation by assessing
the level and accuracy of coding and documentation of ICD-10 codes using
Tandigm’s auditing criteria
Assists with acquiring visit notes required for audit
Serves as a key contact and liaison with clinicians to answer
Conducts individualized training sessions with clinicians and
their staff around specific coding issues based on audit results.
Proactively disseminates coding updates to the clinicians.
Works with key departments within Tandigm to review and explain
medical chart audit results.
Brings questions to the ACE Medical Director as needed.
Assists in training incoming department staff.
· Supports and participates in process and quality improvement
Stays abreast of industry coding and compliance issues.
Participates in coding/auditing discussions to ensure best
practice efforts and processes are implemented through appropriate coding.
· Utilizes, protects, and discloses Tandigm’s patients’ protected
health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability
and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.
Ability to travel (about 25%) throughout the five county
Philadelphia region (Bucks, Montgomery, Delaware, & Chester, &Philadelphia counties) to our Primary
Care Practices (PCPs) as needed.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Performs additional duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent required, with
current/active CPC coder certification from the AAPC is required, with at least
one (1) year of coding experience preferred. Emphasis on ICD-10, CPT and
HCPCS coding, medical terminology and regulatory requirements along with two
(2) years’ coding training experience; medical chart auditing experience is a
plus. Prior healthcare work experience, related to coding and/or medical
billing, or compliance coupled with recent coding certification also a
Must have valid PA driver’s license and must be
able to travel throughout the six (6) county Philadelphia (Philadelphia,
Chester, Berks, Delaware, Bucks) region as needed.
