SUMMARY: Coordinate and oversee daily activities
of the department. Contribute to the fulfillment of the organizational goals
for compliance with health care regulations by participating in internal audits
or reviews of coding and billing practices to identify and prevent
non-compliance and by participating in training activities as needed to promote
and encourage compliance through education and training.
QUALIFICATIONS: Certified Professional Coder with coding experience or Registered Nurse with clinical experience in both hospital
and office nursing preferred. Knowledge and experience in Medicare rules and regulations, coding
and billing principles. Management
experience highly preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. The supervisor will coordinate and oversee daily activities
of the department. Including all issues related to staffing for the
department. They will also provide
information to appropriate committees as requested or directed.
2. Perform comprehensive review of internal coding and
billing records for identification of patterns and trends of
- improper documentation
- overcoding/undercoding
- missing charges
- incorrect coding
(CPT&ICD-10)
- unbundling issues
- simple errors
- posting errors
- training issues
- lack of adherence to
policy
3.
Meets with providers for review of audit results and
provides education as warranted.
4. Stays abreast of federal rules, regulations, and local
policies pertaining to billing and coding.
5.
Lead or participate in cross-functional
workgroups/committees as needed to represent coding issues. Develop reports and
presentations on projects for senior management.
6.
Assists with
additional projects and assignments as requested or directed.
