POSITION SUMMARY

Assigns complex and specialized alphanumeric codes to describe the type of service a patient will receive in the invasive cardiology and radiology setting. Requires extensive, expert knowledge in coding, billing process, complex medical terminology, anatomy (normal and variant), CMS rules and regulations, invasive procedures and equipment used for these cases.


POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education

Graduate of radiologic technology program or nursing program

Minimum Experience

Minimum 2 years in Cath Lab, EP, Invasive Radiology, or OR

Required Registration/License/Certification

RN or RRT or RCIS

BLS within 90 days of DOH/Transfer

Preferred Education

CIRCC and RCIS, or RCVT, or RTCIT, or RN, or RRT

Preferred Experience

2 + years in Cath Lab, EP, Invasive Radiology, or OR

Preferred Registration/License/Certification

CIRCC and/or RCIS RCVT, RTCIT, RN, RRT

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Assign compliant codes, audits and reviews claims, sequences codes and applies modifiers.

2. Collaborates with the billing department, medical records, physicians and other clinical staff to resolve discrepancies and to ensure compliance.

3. Gathers statistics, manages warranty devices and monitors for claims for medical necessity.

4. Maintains an additional level of education, knowledge and expertise to work in this complex and specialized area of intervention radiology and cardiology.

5. This clinical area is constantly changing and rapidly developing.

6. Have current knowledge of CMS rules and regulations that are also constantly changing.

7. Maintain software changes to adjust with CMS yearly adjustments
