Pay Range: $18.36 - $26.66
Hours: Monday - Friday - Days, May possibly work remotely post onsite training period as determined by Manager.
Responsible for accurate and compliant revenue generation through charge capture and charge error correction for patient care areas as assigned. This includes charge entry and the review of clinical documentation to support patient charges with the goal of improving charge accuracy while meeting and maintaining regulatory and departmental requirements. Analyzes physician/provider documentation contained in assigned Diagnostic Outpatient (OP) health records (electronic, paper or hybrid) to determine the principal diagnosis and secondary diagnoses. Utilizes encoder software applications, which includes all applicable online tools and references in the assignment of ICD Clinical Modification diagnosis and procedure codes, and HCPCS procedure codes.
Utilizes coding guidelines established by the Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS), American Hospital Association (AHA) Coding Clinic, American Medical Association (AMA) for CPT codes and CPT Assistant, American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) Standards of Ethical Coding, Revenue Excellence/Regional Health Ministry (RHM) coding policies and CHE Trinity Health Coding Manual (TBA).
Completion of postsecondary education with diploma OR associate's degree OR bachelor's degree in Health Information or other healthcare related field.
•Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) OR
•Certified Procedural Coder (CPC) OR
•Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT) OR
•Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
1. Two plus (2) years of current outpatient coding in an acute care facility.
2. Preferred: Experience working remote is a plus
