Position Summary:
Enters charges associated with clinic visits and physician component for hospital based services including surgery or hospital outpatient or inpatient visits. Ensures that CPT codes and ICD-10 codes are processed timely. Works with Patient Accounting Team and Coding Reimbursement Specialists with correcting any coding denials. Works with physicians, nursing staff and ancillary departments to obtain appropriate documentation for coding of the patient’s medical record.
Education:
Education to include credit in specialized health care subjects, i.e., medical science, pathophysiology, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, ICD10 coding, CPT/HCPCS coding
Experience:
Prefer minimum of 3 years of ICD9 or ICD10 coding experience in hospital or practice setting. For hospital based outpatient coding, prefer minimum of 3 years of CPT coding experience in a hospital or physician multi-specialty setting. For physician based, previous experience in charge entry, including CPT and ICD-9/10 coding is preferred.
Minimum of two years' experience working with computers is required. Previous experience with coding encoder software/abstracting software a plus.

Good communication skills. Close visual and mental attention to detail. Ability to deal assertively but tactfully with physicians, nursing staff. Ability to concentrate for long periods of time while working in a noisy environment. Good organizational skills.
