Fairbanks is Interior Alaska’s urban hub. The Fairbanks location is a hub that serves the larger mission of supporting health and wellness to Indian Health Service beneficiaries--Alaska Natives and American Indians, as well as many non-beneficiaries, in 42 villages across the river systems of the Interior (Yukon, Koyukuk, Kuskokwim, Tanana and more). This 235,000 square mile region is the home of the Tanana Chiefs Conference.

Coding Manager Qualifications:

Associates of Arts Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning in a Health Care Business related field. This may be substituted for by four years of proven on the job Medical coding experience.

Must have Coding certification from the American Academy of Professional Coders or American Health Information Management Association.

Must have a certification as a coding auditor, or show that certification can be obtained with in one year of hire, from either of the above organizations.

Three years supervisory experience in medical coding that includes performing production, quality and other audits.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of current and developing issues and trends in medical coding procedures requirements.

 

Demonstrated ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports.

 

Demonstrated ability to provide strong leadership and supervision of staff.

 

Strong verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills.


Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.

Must maintain strict confidentiality.
