What
You Will Do
As a Coding Specialist, you will facilitate the billing process by reviewing
and auditing provider charges to ensure correct coding practices are being
followed.
The Opportunity
- Enter
insurance coverage for hospital based services
- Ensure correct
reporting of patient diagnoses and procedures.
- Ensure charges entered in the
EHR are checked for any missing, incomplete, or inaccurate information
such as appropriate provider noted, LCD’s, NCD’s criteria, if it exists,
has been followed. Check for
addition of modifiers and add if applicable as well as ensure diagnosis
are in order and assigned to services as appropriate.
- Prepare and submit office and
hospital-based claims to billing service CIPROMS
- Assist with MACL lab invoice
reconciliation.
- Participate and assist with
MIPS, MU, MACRA, ERx and any other government mandated changes impacting
clinical documentation complaince and associated current or future payment
model alternatives.
- Assist with AlertMD training,
education and maintenance as needed.
- Field working requests from
CIPROMS for additional information needed to process claims; submit
corrections to CIPROMS.
- Respond to requests for medical
documentation regarding in-house compliance reviews.
- Remain up-to-date on billing
and benefit changes for third-party insurance carriers. Maintain compliance with all government
and non-government insurance company policies and procedures.
- Create billing reports as
directed.
- Able to serve as back up to
Medical Records with scanning/faxing capabilites if needed.
- Assist either directly or
indirectly with internal chart audits related to E&M coding as needed
on weekly basis.
- If the
assignment of CPT and diagnosis is applicable for claim submission or
correction, coding education must be adhered and attendance at educational
opportunities as related to job specialty is mandated as opportunities
become available.
Requirements
- High
school diploma or GED
- Minimum
1 year of related experience
- Coding
Training and certification must be obtained through either AAPC or AHIMA
- Valid
Indiana Driver’s license and automobile insurance
