Codes and audits all Admission, Resumption and Recertification records and related documentation for accuracy and compliance. Communicates effectively with clinical staff to ensure consistency and accuracy. Obtains and maintains competency/certification in diagnosis coding. Coordinates all outsourced coding. Completes appropriate audits upon clinical record review and submits to designated department within established time frames as needed. Submits staff/clinical concerns and issues related to chart reviews to the appropriate staff member's manager. Coordinates distribution of all audit results to the appropriate staff member/manager. Reports identified opportunities for improvement to the Quality/Compliance Manager.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current NC license or RN multi-state licensure privilege through the Nurse Licensure Compact or successful completion of HIT or similar degree including college level courses in medical terminology and anatomy/physiology. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Five years of home health experience is required. Home health diagnosis coding experience required. HCS-D and HCS-O Coding certification required within 6 months of employment. Excellent working knowledge of OASIS and related outcomes required.
