EDUCATION: High school
diploma or equivalent and AAPC education.
CERTIFICATIONS: RHIT, RHIA,
CPC or Specialty CPC certification.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: At a
minimum, must be able to read, write and comprehend the English language and
correct pronunciation of medical terms/procedures.
At least 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
Minimum 5 years coding experience preferred.
Broad knowledge of EMR and coding software knowledge, basic word
processing and spreadsheet programs is required.
Thorough understanding of E/M leveling and documentation
requirements of patient.
Prior experience with practice management software preferred.
Substantial knowledge of anatomy/physiology, surgical procedures,
medical terminology required.
Maintain a “can do” attitude, effectively participate and be a
team member with department providers, clinical staff and all other staff
