Modernizing Medicine is hiring a Compliance Analyst to assist the Director of Billing & Coding Compliance with internal billing and coding questions, internal compliance audits, and support external audits as necessary.  The Compliance Analyst will also assist with billing and coding research relating to client questions, enhancement requests, and overall product development. 

Your Role:

  • Assist as directed in the development and management of the Billing and Coding Compliance program for Modernizing Medicine, including software functionality.
  • Perform regular and ad hoc billing and coding audits.
  • Prepare written reports of audit results, including recommendations for improvement, and makes suggestions regarding maintaining compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Develop audit tools and related policies/SOPs for the department.
  • Conduct auditing and monitoring activities and review necessary documents to determine compliance with regulations and/or policies and procedures.
  • Generate and maintain all audit documentation, reports, and recommendations.
  • Communicate with key stakeholders regarding audit findings and corrective actions, if necessary.
  • Assist in preparing materials for external audits.
  • Provide ongoing status reports to the team.
  • Assist in the creation of presentations/education as requested.
  • Create and update compliance reports and metrics in a timely manner.
  • Regularly monitors the compliance log and ensures that it accurately tracks the status of items, including closure.   

Skills & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Health Information Management or Health Administration or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in medical coding auditing required.
  • Medical Coding Certificate required; CCS or CPC preferred.
  • Certifications in Compliance, such as CHC preferred.
  • Highly proficient in excel i.e., pivot tables, lookups, advanced formulas.
  • Strong knowledge of Compliance programs and systems.
  • Ability to prioritize work and exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent problem solving/critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of all compliance and patient information.
  • Strong PC/MAC skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office/gSuite required.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders and escalate matters as appropriate.
  • Team player and excellent cross-functional collaboration skills to work with all levels of employees.
