The Compliance and Coding Specialists supports and provides compliance and coding training to Providers, clinic personnel and the billing staff. The position will also conduct program specific chart audits and provide feedback and training to the appropriate staff. This position will work with the Auditing and Coding Specialists to evaluate insurance carrier denials and develop training as a result of this analysis. This position will also work closely with the Data Analytics team to assure Quality Measures.
• Responsible for the creation of topics and communications with respect to on-going training for the providers at both the individual and group level- for general updates.
• Works with Audit and Coding Specialist to develop a system for auditing of professional claims billed out on both CMS-1500 and UB04 bill formats, to ensure appropriate charges are captured and to identify additional areas for training.
• Works with the data analytics team to provide audit and abstract support with respect to achieving QIM goals.
• Assist the billing team with special projects as needed
Skills & Knowledge
Knowledge and understanding of disease prevention, medical procedures, care modalities, procedure codes, including ICD-10, CPT Codes, and health insurance. Ability to develop, review, and evaluate utilization reports. Knowledge of quality improvement methodology. Experience giving presentations. Organizational skills with solid experience in using computers and various software applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, and audio-visual equipment. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
