The Documentation Auditor reviews coding and documentation for all services provided by the practice as well as provides ongoing education to providers regarding coding and documentation while exercising discretion and independent judgment.

Essential Duties:
  • Audits physician and non-physician provider documentation for compliance with carrier and billing regulations. 
  • Tracks and maintains records of all audits, results of conducted audits, and education.
  • Develops a pass/fail system and re-audit procedure based on audit results.
  • Participates and assists actively with external audits.
  • Creates training's for physicians and staff based on current coding standards and regulations.
  • Conducts training sessions with physicians, non-physician providers, and business office personnel.
  • Reviews billing practices of the organization to ensure compliance with state, federal, and third party billing requirements, rules and regulations.
  • Requests and reviews confidential employee and physician information as per state and federal Excluded Party and Sanctioned Individual regulations. 
  • Requests and reviews contractor and business associate information as per state and federal Excluded Party and Sanctioned Individual regulations. 
  • Creates, tracks, maintains, and audits covering physician logs for all applicable offices.
  • Conducts and/or assists in Compliance department investigations and audits.
  • Documents information reviewed in an accurate, clear, confidential, and concise matter consistent with the Rothman Orthopaedics Compliance Program.
  • Maintains electronic records for compliance department activity.
  • Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
