EVALUATION
& MANAGEMENT MEDICAL CODER
CHARACTERISTICS OF WORK:
This
is professional/clerical work involving assigning appropriate diagnoses and
procedures using ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS codes for code assignment. This
position requires in office work and is not fully remote.
MINIMUM QUALIFCATIONS:
The minimum
qualifications include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Fluent
in electronic coding systems
- Knowledge
in electronic health records
- Skilled
in coding procedures and regulations
- Understanding
of medical terminology
- Fully
uphold HIPAA guidelines
- Excellent
computer skills
- Outstanding
written and communication skills
ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Additional
essential functions may be identified and included as needed. The essential functions include, but are not
limited to, the following:
- Ability
to work independently and efficiently
- Maintain
productivity and quality standards
- Ability
to use coding guidelines to assign correct codes with minimal supervision
- Possess
and maintain coding knowledge base without the need for upfront training

medical documentation from providers and assign appropriate codes
- Utilize
the Electronic Health Record to enter accurate information into billing system

EXPERIENCE / EDUCATIONAL
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Must
currently possess one medical coding certification from American Health
Information Management Association (AHIMA) or American Academy of Professional
Coders (AAPC).
Experience:
