St. Luke’s has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Coder to join our Coding team as a Coder 3 in Boise.
As an experienced Coder, you will be responsible for reviewing charges and codes submitted for data entry to ensure codes are in accordance with current principles of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS guidelines. You will research coding and reimbursement issues and report findings to management, physicians, and staff. St. Luke's Coding Specialists support St. Luke's Physician's Services Central Business Office (CBO) mission to ensure the highest quality of patient care in an economically sound and efficient manner.
Experienced Coders work under limited supervision and apply knowledge of coding to solve unique or new cases by ensuring documentation supports the level and type of service billed. Experienced Coders must demonstrate a thorough understanding of coding classification systems, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, pharmacology, disease processes, and surgical techniques.
Please note, this position requires residence in the states of Idaho or Oregon.
Education: Associates Degree in Healthcare or related field or 2 relevant years’ experience in lieu of degree
Experience: 4 years relevant experience
Licenses/Certifications: One of the following certifications-
- CCS (Certified Coding Specialist)
- CIC (Certified Inpatient Coder)
- COC (Certified Outpatient Coder)
- CPC (Certified Professional Coder)
- CRC (Certified Risk Adjustment Coder)
- RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator)
- RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician)
*CPC-A and CAC certifications are not considered equivalent
- 4+ years’ relevant experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare or related field
