Description
We
have an immediate opening for a full-time Medical Billing Associate. Position
includes responsibility for all aspects of medical billing, including data
entry, electronic and paper claim submission, problem resolution, and answering
inquiries from medical insurance companies and patients. Experience with
medical billing and collections is required. This position also includes
cross-coverage of other office functions.
Responsibilities:
– Submitting and posting of claims
– Working directly with the insurance company, health
care provider, and patient to get claims processed and paid
– Reviewing and appealing unpaid, rejected, and denied
claims
– Answering billing questions for patients
– Handling collections on unpaid accounts
– Collect required insurance co-payments, patient
balances, and properly document issues in electronic accounts receivable
system
– Understand and adhere to all HIPAA regulations
regarding patient confidentiality and record-keeping
– Cross-coverage of other office functions such as
processing requests for slides, proofreading and correcting pathology
reports, answering telephones, and logging in biopsy specimens
Qualifications:
– Demonstrated experience with insurance billing, coding,
medical terminology, and reimbursement
– Superior customer service skills and an outgoing,
friendly personality
– Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment on
confidential matters
– Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively on the
phone and in writing
– High level of attention to detail, accuracy, and
thoroughness
– Excellent written and oral communication skills
– Proficient in Microsoft Excel along with strong general
computer skills
– Associate’s degree and billing certification desirable
– Minimum of 2 years’ experience in medical billing
Preferred
Qualifications:
– Experience in pathology and laboratory billing
desirable but not required
– Transcription experience is desirable

Dermatopathology

laboratory in operation for 24 years, staffed with three physicians and
approximately ten supporting staff members. We have a pleasant work environment

Salary
commensurate with qualifications and experience. Excellent benefits including

Salary:
$19.00 to $27.00 /hour
