Certified Coder
YOUR
ROLE AT NWHS:
NWHS is seeking a qualified Billing
Certified Coder to assist the Billing Manager at the West Salem Clinic to
perform billing coding functions. The Billing
Certified Coder is responsible for routine and complex encounter coding
and will work to ensure appropriate coding of services (CPT-4, HCPCS), and
diagnosis coding based on review of the clinical record. In this rose the BCC
will provide accurate and timely medical, mental health, and /or dental billing
for accurate claim submission while working in partnership and joint
accountability with other team members to achieve department goals.
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified candidates will be a
Certified Professional Coder through the AAPC (American Academy of Professional
Coders) with an active certificate and have knowledge of and proficient in
ICD-10 and CPT-4 coding. Candidates must have a basic
understanding of computers, file systems, and report logic and knowledge of
accounting principles as they pertain to charges, adjustments and payments.
Previous relevant work experience preferred. Bilingual in English/Spanish
preferred, but not required.
CORE
COMPETENCIES:
1.
Review
provider coding of services provided; CPT-4, HCPCS,
, and diagnosis (ICD10) for
medical, mental health, and dental
claims.
2.
Review
and respond to coding inquiries submitted by providers. Correct and resubmit
claims based on review of the records, provider input, and payer input.
3.
Work
directly with providers to resolve specific coding issues and act as the
liaison between providers, staff, and outside parties on coding issues.
4.
Work
within the electronic medical record to develop and implement strategies to
make appropriate documentation, and code editing as efficient as possible.
5.
Work
with clinical and non-clinical teams to develop, implement, and communicate
specific coding and documentation guidelines that will meet the need for
complete and consistent clinical data.
