Position Responsibilities  

  • Maintain current knowledge of coding guidelines and relevant federal regulations using current CPT-4, HCPCS II, and ICD-9/ICD-10 materials, the Federal Register, and other pertinent materials.
  • Coding and billing of procedures or services for all place of service settings in compliance with federal and commercial payers coverage determinations
  • Correct Claims pre-submission for identified edits that will result in a claim denial or delay.
  • Follow up on Denied Claims as identified through carrier denials.
  • Follow up on Unpaid Claims in an aged approach for final claim resolution.
  • Communicate and manage internal and external requirements and expectation.
  • Proactively build client specific claim edits to avoid future claim denials.
  • Assure client satisfaction
  • Communicate proactively with clients to avoid escalation
  • Track A/R progress and profitability of client accounts
  • Identify and analyze reimbursement trends within the client they are working.
  • Identify any issues or problems with payers as the possible difficulties in presenting clean claims to them based upon their submission requirements
  • Identify payer trends
  • Review physician documentation to ensure charge capture is accurate
  • Coordinates and reconciles encounters to ensure complete charge capture.
  • Charge entry of coded services into the billing system in a timely manner.
  • Work in conjunction with A/R team on follow up and resolution of coding related denials and rejections including recommendation of new /updated coding edits.
  • Assists in the development of coding education programs for in-service meetings.
  • Tracks denial patterns for surgical practices to address systemic issues and assists in the auditing of surgical practices.
