This position is responsible for the review of medical billing to ensure that coding is accurate and that all fields are entered accurately. In addition, this position will prepare the Room and Board (R&B) report, review all consents and legal documents for correct signatures, and run Medicare and Medicaid eligibility for all locations. This position will also provide training to the locations and Medical Billing Specialists regarding medical coding, ICD10, etc.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Requires High School Diploma
  • 2 years’ experience in Medicare/Medicaid coding
  • Hospice experience preferred

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Excellent observation, verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, basic math skills
  • Must have strong presentation skills
  • Must be adept with computer software, laptops, cell phones, and office equipment

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Track admission running event audit and census to validate all admits have been updated.  Compare daily report submitted by the locations against corporate records
  • Enter Notice of Elections (NOE) into the Medicare system and track the NOE to validate that it has been processed and posted within 5 days
  • Review legal documents and ensure that they are consistent with the admission date for all company admissions as well as correct signatures
  • Prepare weekly report for month end reconciliation of R&B billings ensuring that start and stop dates are accurate and correct payments have been submitted
  • Validate room and board is linked for all new admissions
  • Run Medicare eligibility to ensure that the correct payor is attached
  • Train the locations and Medical Billing Specialists regarding medical coding as needed
  • Travel to locations to ensure that the locations have adequate training as it relates to medial coding and Medicare/Medicaid submissions as needed
