Position Summary: Accountable for conversion of diagnoses and treatment procedures into ICD-9 or ICD 10 and CPT codes. Skilled in the sequencing of diagnoses/procedures to optimize reimbursement. Ensures that records are coded in an accurate and timely manner. Abstracts information from the record on each patient visit, and enters into the computerized medical record database. Ensures accuracy and integrity of medical record abstract data prior to billing interface.
- Certified as a Coding Specialist
- Knowledge and experience in diagnoses/procedures in accordance with ICD-10-CM and CPT coding principles for Critical Access Hospitals
- Ability to work with physicians in a collaborative manner.
