Nova Southeastern University (NSU), Division of Clinical Operations, invites applicants to apply for the position of Medical Coding Specialist.


Nova Southeastern University is a dynamic, not-for-profit independent institution dedicated to providing high-quality educational programs of distinction from pre-school through the professional and doctoral levels, as well as service to the community. Founded in 1964 and currently enrolling over 5,000 undergraduates and 22,000 graduate and professional students, the main campus is located in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. NSU offers more than 30 majors and 40 minors on the undergraduate level in four academic units. The university also offers graduate degrees in business, education, humanities and sciences as well as and professional degrees in law, medicine, dentistry, optometry, pharmacy and allied health.


The Medical Coding Specialist monitors reimbursement coding activities on clinical services including securing, maintaining and distributing current coding information and implementing changes.


Applicants must meet the following education and experience:

High school diploma and minimum of (5) years of experience with coding and/or reimbursement activities, including experience of coding in health related practices.

OR

Associate's Degree and a minimum of (3) years of experience with coding and/or reimbursement activities, including experience of coding in health related practices.

OR

Bachelor's Degree and minimum one (1) year of experience with coding and/or reimbursement activities, including experience of coding in health related practices.


The Medical Coding Specialist must be a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) from AAPC or AHIMA.
