In this role you will be responsible for:
  • Analyzes, abstracts and converts information from highly specialized radiology and international cardiology cases, as well as other outpatient records clinical health information into ICD-9CM, CPT-4 codes, and E/M codes assigning APC classifications to ensure accuracy, proper sequencing and appropriate hospital reimbursement

If you possess the following qualifications, please apply immediately:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Courses in ICD-9CM and CPT-4, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and the clinical disease process are required
  • Experience with radiology and interventional cardiology cases, as well as other outpatient records in clinical health information required
  • Minimum of one year experience in an acute care facility preferred
  • Ability to pass the coding examination
  • Familiarity with the multiple computer systems used in HIMD and good analytical and problem solving skills are required
  • Personal Computer basic skills preferred
  • RHIA/RHIT or CCS/CCS-P preferred

Physical Demands:
  • Physical Requirements: Mainly sedentary with occasion light lifting of charts
  • Visual Requirements: Near vision and extensive exposure to VDTs
  • Hearing Requirements: Ability to hear normal conversation and telephone communication
  • Working Conditions: Office setting
