The Privacy Manager is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the UC Davis Health Privacy Program to ensure compliance with federal and state privacy laws.  Oversees all ongoing activities related to the Privacy Program administration such as maintenance of policies and procedures, completion of Annual Compliance Work Plan activities, the performance of privacy auditing and monitoring activities, and review and management of all reported privacy activities.REQUIRED
--Bachelor's Degree required; Juris Doctor, Master's degree in Business, Health Care Administration, Public Health or equivalent experience preferred
--Extensive experience working in compliance or in a health care setting, or related experiences.
--Experience conducting investigations 
--Comprehensive knowledge of the laws, rules and regulations that govern health care privacy including but not limited to: HIPAA, HITECH, OCR advisories, and CMIA 
--Comprehensive knowledge and experience of operational & regulatory expertise in privacy and investigations 
--Extensive analytical reasoning with the skill to navigate complex problems and provide resolution to senior leadership 
--Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to clearly and effectively interact with a diverse group of individuals at all levels within the organization to secure and provide information to clarify situations, resolve problems, and foster and promote the goals of the organization 
--Leadership skills to implement new systems and processes that improve the overall effectiveness of the unit and proven success training, mentoring, leading and motivating staff through a team approach
--Experience managing a high work volume with changing priorities, frequent interruptions and in stressful situations and work cooperatively with a positive attitude 
--Experience maintaining a high degree of discretion, integrity, and sensitivity to confidentiality and privacy 
--Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, employee medical record systems or similar systems
