The Reimbursement Program Manager at Cook Medical leads the development of reimbursement strategies and manages projects to improve market access and supports the commercialization of Cook Medical products.

The preferred candidate will have extensive experience in US healthcare, and working knowledge of medical device industry, US government, and/or third-party payer.


• Develop and maintain an unsurpassed understanding of the reimbursement systems in the US, including reading and understanding Medicare regulations, coverage policies, program transmittals, etc.

• Assess reimbursement opportunities and challenges facing new technologies and commercially marketed products. Analyze and provide input to R&D and the divisions.

• Develop reimbursement strategies to improve market access and support the commercialization of products.

• Manage cross-functional projects and other activities required to achieve reimbursement strategic objectives (e.g., preparation and submission of reimbursement applications).

• Work with relevant external stakeholders (e.g. KOLs, medical societies, trade associations, and private and public payers).

• Align and communicate status of projects directly to Reimbursement Manager and divisional senior management.

• Serve as point of contact for incoming questions from sales team members and external customers.

• Update and maintain current coding, coverage, payment resources and tools to support customers.

• Provide support and training to the Cook sales and marketing teams in addressing coding and reimbursement issues Mentor and train new Reimbursement team members.

• Providing leadership by making improvements of processes and systems to enhance the performance of the reimbursement function.

• Strictly adhere to company safety, security, quality, ethics and compliance requirements.

• Must have effective oral and written communications throughout various levels of the global organization.

• Perform work under minimal supervision.

• Must work and interact effectively and professionally with and for others throughout various levels of the global organization to achieve company goals.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in collaborative and independent work situations and environments with minimal supervision.


• Bachelor's Degree, or experience of such kind and amount as to provide comparable background.

• AAPC or AHIMA coding certification.

• Minimum 5 years of healthcare work experience in reimbursement for a medical technology/device company, health care consulting firm, insurance company, healthcare delivery system, physician’s office and/or hospital.

• Knowledge and understanding of U.S. healthcare reimbursement mechanisms (Medicare prospective payment systems, third-party payer coverage, procedural and diagnostic coding) and regulations related to reimbursement for medical technology products.

• Experience in providing coding, coverage, and payment advice in a healthcare setting.

• Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

• Requires occasional early morning or evening teleconferences.

• Must be willing and able to travel as needed.

• Works under general office environmental conditions.

• This position is a possible remote position but may be required to make periodic visits to a Cook facility. 

• Sits for extended periods, utilizes close visual acuity for working with computers, etc.
