With oversight from the department Director, Healthcare Policy & Reimbursement and exercising independent judgment within the scope of their professional practice, the Certified Professional Coder performs a variety of tasks associated with coding physician, hospital outpatient and ambulatory surgical center and providing coding education to providers, clinical, office staff, sales reps, and salesforce. •Supports the day to day reimbursement inquiries from the field sales and external physician and hospital providers and customers for ENT products. •Review and assist in updates of coding documents as needed for accuracy of CPT, HCPCS and ICD-9 & ICD-10 Coding. •Answers and responds accurately and timely to questions on the telephone, voicemail, e-mail, Coding Hotline and/or Coding e-mail box as appropriate. •Reviews and analyzes rejected claims and inquiries of professional services and recommends appropriate coding corrections. •Provides support in the prior authorization, denial and appeals process to providers, clinical and office staff and salesforce. •Communicates with clinical and office staff, providers and salesforce regarding any missing, incomplete, or inconsistent documentation and to obtain accurate billing codes as necessary. •Assist with the development and deployment of payer and provider focused communications regarding the value of Stryker ENT products •Manage all aspects of the Coding Hotline and Email contacts, responding to inquiries as needed, track and trend data related to contacts reporting information to the Director of Healthcare Policy and Reimbursement. •Research reimbursement trends, coverage issues, and payment methodologies maintaining coverage policy database and other tracking systems •Accurately follows coding guidelines and legal requirements to ensure compliance. •Performs other duties and provides support with strategic reimbursement projects as determined by the Director, Healthcare Policy & Reimbursement •Contribute to the process for developing new concepts and innovative ways to educate and deliver timely and relevant reimbursement educational materials and collaterals and conducting sales/customer trainings as part of formal and informal knowledge sharing forums. •Keep CPC Licensure or Certificate current and up-to-date Qualifications: •Bachelor’s degree preferred. •Minimum of five years billing/coding/coverage experience. •Proven work experience in providing coding, coverage, and payment advice in a healthcare setting with an emphasis on ENT products. •Able to manage multiple tasks with high degree of organization-prioritization skill and attention to detail and accuracy. •Knowledge of coding guidelines, medical procedures and services to appropriately review OP reports/notes, rejected claims and EOBs. •Knowledge & Experience with prior authorization, denials and appeals process. •Proficient in all aspects of reimbursement (i.e., benefit investigations, payer reimbursement policies, regulatory and administrative rules. •Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office suite. •Ability to work independently, self-motivated, and is a team player. •Excellent written and verbal communication skills. •Demonstrates effective problem solving and excellent customer service. · Exceptional attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks. •Licensure or Certification and Registered: CPC (Certified Professional Coder through American Academy of Professional Coders) or CCS-P (Certified Coding Specialist Physician based through American Health Information Management Association) preferred Work From Home: Not available Travel Percentage: None Stryker Corporation is an equal opportunity employer.
