THIS IS A REMOTE POSITION


Position Description
Abstracts clinical information from a variety of medical records and assigns appropriate ICD 10 CM and/or CPT codes to patient records according to established procedures. Analyzes, enters and manipulates database, confirms appropriate DRG assignments. Knowledge in ICD-10 and CPT-4 coding required.


*Required Specialty areas are: Cardio-thoracic surgery, OBGYN, oral/maxillofacial surgery, vascular surgery, and urology.
 

Minimum Requirements

  • 3+ years work experience;
  • 3 or more years of surgical coding experience
  • CPC or CCS certification


Critical Skills:

*Must have Multi-Specialty Coding Experience in at least 3 of the following areas: cardio-thoracic surgery, OBGYN, oral/maxillofacial surgery, vascular surgery, and urology. *

  • Abstraction coding experience required
  • Profee/Physician Coding Experience is a must have
  • General Surgery Coding Experience a plus
     

Additional Knowledge & Skills:

Excellent overall knowledge of coding. Helps train and/or check work of level 1 coders. Answers questions of other coders.

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent work experience;
