Contractor holding this position will be a proven leader in billing operations. They will fit our commitment to our clients and our mission to make our clients more successful through diligent work on billing contracts. The billing manager will motivate other contractors to work efficiently to collect every possible revenue dollar for services rendered while maintaining the highest level of integrity and compliance on behalf of our clients. Billing manager will demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills while communicating with team members and clients. Must be prepared to take accountability for designing, implementing, and enforcing productivity and work product of other independent contractors he/she manages, as well as streamlining effective billing processes. This position is highly visible and requires a strong leader with the ability to prioritize, plan, and direct other independent contractors.

Primary duties include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee and streamline billing and collections processes for each client assigned.
    • Each client may have vastly different needs based on contract with Coding Advantage and use of specific billing and/or EMR systems.
  • Month-end closing of the billing information for each client served and be prepared to report to management each client charges payments adjustments and change in AR.
    • Each client must be closed by the 10th of each month for the prior month unless the client has indicated they are unable to close or routinely close at another date.
    • All reports should be saved in our file safe site used, and owner should be notified when reports are ready.
  • Periodically check work of other billing contractors to maintain quality assurance on behalf of Coding Advantage, LLC.
  • Personnel development for all billing team via training on clients, insurance carrier websites/portals, common AR Recovery pitfalls etc.
    • Often recommends other available training through other entities that will improve skill set for the better of the individual as well as our clients.
  • Resource discussions with owner involving decisions for client work.
  • First line interviewing of potential contractors
  • Fosters team building of other independent contractors working together on clients.
  • Be a “go to” liaison to all clients whether it is an internal billing person, CFO or CEO of the organization
    • All communication with client whether via email, phone, text, zoom etc. must be done so with the utmost professionalism.
  • Be a liaison to the managed care organizations on behalf of our clients.
    • We expect to have a partnership type of relationship with most carriers serving our clients. Where the billing manager can establish this bond, they should do so!
  • Design and periodically update procedures for billing based on the specific client
    • This should be created and stored for review…and updated periodically depending on changes with the client or specific carrier billing process.
  • Implement and train staff on new process as directed by Coding Advantage, or the client.
  • Conduct monthly client meetings to review progress on billing and discuss challenges from an IT or resource perspective. Should be prepared to show value of service being our client.
  • Meet with owner to discuss those contractors that are not working out, those that are excelling and other client issues that need addressed at a minimum of monthly.
  • Attend via in person or virtual conferences and/or webinars or  training sessions related to aspects of coding, billing, and operations as it relates to the revenue cycle.

Minimum qualifications:

·         3-5 years in revenue cycle management position or equivalent experience in leadership position.

  • Proven ability to perform strategic planning and priority setting for other contractors and client.
  • Proven track record for improving process efficiencies and solving claims problems driving the most revenue on behalf of the client.
  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to motivate other remote billing contractors.
  • Detail oriented with a medical billing background in a private practice or behavioral health organization.  
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and assist the owner and or client in understanding the current status of the revenue cycle at any time!
