Definition: Under general supervision from the Health and Human Services Director, directs and coordinates revenue activities to maximize cash flow through the creation of effective, scalable business processes. The Manager will maintain a good working relationship with all the operational leaders to ensure accurate patient/ insurance billing and efficient account collection; create process improvement plans, define and monitor key performance metrics, analyze and interpret data and manage change and facilitate improvements.This job class is treated as FLSA Exempt

Tasks:
1. Workflow, supervision and management: Oversee the Salt River Clinic revenue cycle department.

  • Provides full technical and administrative supervision
  • In coordination with the department supervisors, prepares shift schedules and coordinates time off
  • In coordination with the department supervisors reviews and approves time
  • Maintains revenue cycle operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Outlines goals and objectives for evaluation, evaluates performance of revenue cycle staff and conducts timely performance evaluations. 
  • Ensures safe and clean working environment by coordinating with supervisors and department staff following procedures and when necessary.
  • Follows organizational policies and procedures

2. Departmental Management: Maintains department direction with community objectives on standards of operations

  • Evaluates processes and procedures within scope of the revenue cycle operations for quality standards of care, recommends changes to meet the organizational goals of the clinic.
  • Operates within the departmental budget for operations (personnel and supplies).
  • Provides input for the annual budget process to support budget expenditures for revenue cycle services.
  • Maintains documentation of revenue cycle work flow and procedures by coordinating the regular review of individual patient accounts to ensure consistent processes are being followed.
  • Ensures staff are qualified and trained with tools to support successful execution of their duties
  • Through the department supervisors directs daily cash processing workflows and associated reconciliations
  • Reviews current status of patients accounts to identify and resolve billing and processing problems in a timely manner
  • Reviews financial reports with Senior Management and takes corrective action to ensure compliance and budgeting targets

3. Patient Interaction: Regularly review that internal policies and procedures are followed that maintains patient confidence and protects operations by monitoring confidential information processing.

4. Professional Work Standard: Updates professional knowledge and proficiency in revenue cycle through continuing education, staff meetings, training and conferences, etc.

5. Other: Performs other job-related duties as assigned to maintain and enhance departmental operation.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of the history, customs, culture, traditions and government of the Salt River Pima- Maricopa Indian Community.
  • Knowledge of medical, public health and social service resources available to Community members including, but not limited to, Indian Health Service (HIS), Medicare, Medicaid, ALTCS, SSI, etc.
  • Knowledge of assessment, diagnostic, preventative and therapeutic procedures used in a community health program.
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and commercial billing rules and regulations.
  • Skill in the use of practice management software application, calculator, copy machine and other essential office equipment.
  • Skill with verbal and written communication and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, clients, families, community groups and health professionals.
  • Skill managing various employee types in stressful situations
  • Skill with program planning, operational processes, and creating department budgets
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with colleagues, subordinates, supervisors, health care professionals, Tribal officials, representatives or resource agencies, patients and Community members.

Qualifications:
Education: An Associate's degree from an accredited college or university, Bachelor's degree preferred,

Experience: Five (5)  professional Revenue Cycle experience required

  • At least three (3) years' experience as a revenue cycle supervisor.
  • Experience working with Native Americans strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of infection control, immunizations, wound care, diabetes education and chronic disease management preferred.

Equivalency: Any equivalent combination of education and experience that will allow the applicant to satisfactorily perform the duties of the job may be considered when filling the position,

Insurability: Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License and meet the SRPMIC insurance standards.
