This Revenue Cycle Physician Billing Coder for will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing the Community Hospital coding work queues, correcting issues & releasing bills for processing.
  • Resolving coding issues according to National Correct Coding Initiative (CCI) standards through analysis of medical record documentation and use of CCI standard coding rules.  Assessing the level and accuracy of CPT and ICD-10 coding to ensure compliance with governmental and third party payer regulations.  Evaluating & preparing reports & provide to end users.
  • Validating the receipt of registration & charge interface feeds from community hospitals & coding contractors  Reviewing, validating & reconciling the messages.  Working closely with ISD to investigate & resolve identified issues.
  • Informing & collaborating with internal/external parties on daily issue resolution, participating on project work groups focused on process and/or technical improvements and working with the Children’s Hospital Pediatric Associates (CHPA).  Developing & drafting policies for the BCH Community Network physicians in coordination with CHPA and BCH Billing Compliance.
  • Reviewing & reconciling receipt of charges from each community hospital and ensuring that all physicians are accounted for on the interface so that charges are received & bills are processed.
  • Assisting with requests for billing information and inquiries from Patient Relations regarding BCH Community Hospital professional billing issues.
  • Contributing to teamwork within the BCH departments & community hospitals & vendors.


To qualify, you must have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Medical Records, Nursing or a closely related field preferred.
  • 3 years or more in Health Information Management required.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification required.
  • Knowledge of healthcare compliance regulations.
  • Knowledge of professional billing revenue cycle & its impact on net revenue collections.
  • Analytical skills to perform various analyses & summarize information & data from multiple systems to solve problems.
  • Prior experience providing physician education and ability to review their documentation & assist them so it meets requirements.
  • Working knowledge of Epic EMR & billing modules strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge with CPT & ICD-10 coding requirements through individual and group training sessions.
