We have an opportunity
at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Senior Clinical Content Manager on
our Health Solutions team. In this Role you will Act as a clinical resource to
the CPT Editorial Panel, the CPT Assistant Editorial Board and other clinical
nomenclature and standards work for Health Solutions and the AMA by providing
clinical coding expertise and experience to enhance the depth and breadth of
AMA and CPT offerings, code application evaluation processes, and integration
of CPT and other standards nomenclatures into clinical practice.
Responsibilities:
- Clinical Practice liaison for CPT stakeholders
including Editorial Panel and Specialty Societies
- Provide clinical practice expertise to CPT code change
applications, to research potential applicability of existing CPT codes
with code change applications involving new technology and optimize their
effectiveness in the clinical setting
- Facilitate clinically-focused Code Change Application
(CCA) process improvements
Provide clinical nomenclature and standards expertise to Specialty
societies, CPT Editorial Panel, AMA Board of Trustees, AMA Advocacy,
AMA’s Integrated Health Model Initiative (IHMI), and other stakeholders;
provide analysis and insights to internal stakeholders on issues
impacting AMA and the CPT code set
- Acts as clinical coding lead for Electronic Inquiries
and CPT Assistant Editorial board issues, including operative report
review; and elevating medical communications with Specialty Societies on
complex topics
- Support communication and implementation of
CPT-focused products and initiatives, collaborating with internal and
external stakeholders
- Clinical CPT Representative to outside organizations to
support adoption and use of CPT
- Act as clinical coding subject matter expert to
standards setting bodies and organizations
- Communication with stakeholders from payors, device
manufacturers, laboratories, physician practices, and health systems to
provide clinically-focused authoritative direction on CPT adoption and
interoperability.
- Analyze and optimize CPT Code Set by proactively
identifying gaps in clinical and service coverage
- May include other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred
- Current U.S-recognized clinical credentials (eg, RN)
required; experience in a clinical setting interacting with physicians and
clinicians required.
- Minimum of 7 years coding experience; current coding
certification of RHIA, CCS, and/or CCS-P required
- Must have a thorough working knowledge of ICD-10CM/PCS
and CPT coding systems, DRG systems and federal/state regulations
regarding reimbursement
- Knowledge of current clinical nomenclature,
classification systems, anatomy, and physiology required; claims
processing and physician payer policy knowledge strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of alternative payment models such as
value based payment
- Must have a working knowledge of medical-legal rules
and regulations that govern the confidentiality and release of medical
information, with the ability to interpret and implement the standards
- Oral communication and interpersonal skills, including
the ability to represent the AMA to external organizations, interact with
high-profile individuals, negotiate sensitive issues, and achieve
consensus with stakeholder groups
- Writing, research, and analytical skills, including the
ability to clearly conceptualize issues, synthesize and organize material,
and develop and write comprehensive/insightful reports and other materials
- A high degree of proficiency in use of computer
systems, including Microsoft office
- Ability to build relationships with internal and
external team members and contribute to team performance, including a
variety of duties including changing assignments, priorities and deadlines
- The ability to document and communicate knowledge of
procedures and techniques is required
- Approximately 25% travel required
