In this role, you will supervise the daily operation of the HIM Department Coding Staff, and orient, train, and develop staff to meet proficient competency levels, productivity levels, and quality expectations. You will plan, organize, design, implement, and monitor Coder I and/or Coder II coding initiatives to improve coding quality and reimbursement. You will establish and maintain effective communication and collaboration across all components within the UNM Health Sciences system. In addition, you will promote correct coding guidelines and coding initiatives, medical record automation, and standardization throughout the enterprise.
- • High School Diploma or GED equivalent; Associate’s degree preferred. Completion of coding courses through HIT program or online equivalent preferred.
- • 1 year directly related experience.
- • Must have one of the following: Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Professional Coder – Hospital (CPC-H), RHIT, RHIA, or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).
