POSITION
SUMMARY: Under the direction
of the Manager, Coding Compliance, Physician Practice Surgical Coder will play a key role in
reviewing and analyzing coding for
processing. This
role will be responsible for reviewing and accurately coding office, hospital, and procedures for reimbursement. The Physician
Practice Surgical Coder will also be committed
to ensuring accurate and compliant medical coding for both inpatient and outpatient
services, diagnostic tests, and other medical services rendered to each
patient. The coder is responsible for the review of patient medical records,
including test orders, and accurately assigning ICD10 CM diagnoses codes, CPT-4
Evaluation and Management codes and procedural codes. The incumbent should be
able to effectively communicate with medical staff other departments.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum
Education: High
School graduate with courses in Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology,
ICD-9 and ICD -10, E&M Coding and CPT-4 coding.
Minimum Experience: 1
year of recent professional coding experience and surgical experience required.
Required
Certification/Registration: Required
1 of the following: CPC (Certified Professional Coder), Certified Coding
Specialist (CCS)
Physical
Requirements: Sitting,
walking, and standing for short periods.
Lifting of light objects no more than 25 pounds.
