Looking for a code that would cover the cost of bus transportation for pt to Dr. office. Does anyone know of any code? This is a request of a pt to bill out to insurance.

you'd be looking at HCPC's codes - Special Transportation codes... A0xxx area - I "thought" the mileage codes started with a "Y" - but apparently, they fall under the A0xxx codes as well.
however, the transportation company is the one that bills for those services -not the medical facility, or patient, or doctor.....

lol.. been so long - the mileage code for Special Transportation that I recall were the S0xxx codes (not with a Y - I just knew it wasn't an A0xxx code)

still - the transportation company codes/bills for these services....

You might look at 99082, Unusual travel (eg, transportation and escort of pt.)
OUr office has used it for taxi services because the taxi co. would bill our doctor for the charges. Hope this helps.

liz3strikes - 99082 is used in adjunct to basic services rendered. The physician reports this to indicate unusual travel for the purpose of transportation or accompanying the patient....

that code is NOT for transportation to/from an office visit....

AZ "transportation providers" bill A0120 (add TN for rural transports) for the number of trips (max 5/day/per patient) and S0215 for mileage (max 999/day/per patient) to transport patients to dr appts.
