    Question Mental Health Coding

    AAPC: Back to School
I work in an outpatient psychiatry department of a hospital. Our LCSW and LCPC would like to start a Dialectic Behavior Therapy Group (DBT) and have asked me to find coding for this service. The CPT does not list this service and I have found in researching the web that it is on the HCPCS 2008 Request List. Do any of my fellow coders have experience with mental health coding and this service. Would love to find some partners in crime. This is a very difficult area to receive reimbursement!

CPT is only going to offer the alternative of the group visit(s) codes: 90853 and its ilk.

I'm sure you've determined that though. Any progress on the '09 HCPCS?

Thank you for your prompt reply. I am just starting to branch out my research into HCPCS. Any tips you can send my way would be appreciated.

I dont have my CPT with me but look at 96153 (requires units of service) vs 90853
