Question What is the correct billing?...

    AAPC: Back to School
When a patient is seen for an annual exam and while in with the physician is seen for a SEPARATE diagnosis, what is the correct method of billing? What CPT code(s) would be used?

You would bill the Annual exam code and dx then the apporate e/m code with the dx and add MOD 25 to the E/M code. Hope this helps.

    CPT code
    New patient codes
    99381 younger than 1 year
    99382 age 1-4
    99383 age 5-11
    99384 age 12-17
    99385 age 18-39
    99386 age 40-64
    99387 age 65 and older

    Est pt codes
    99391 age younger than 1
    99392 age 1-4
    99393 age 5-11
    99394 age 12-17
    99395 age 18-39
    99396 age 40-64
    99397 age 65 and older

    then what ever E/M code

    or Est
