I work in a Family Practice office and I was wondering how to bill for oxygen given during a visit? Do we just bill for the supplies? If so what supplies can we bill for?

I believe the supplies and the oxygen are included in the E/M.

    Lisa is correct.....

During an E/M service, an established patient requires the administration of oxygen. Would it be appropriate to separately report for the administration of oxygen in addition to the E/M service code (99211-99215)?

    AMA Comment

"From a CPT coding perspective, it would not be appropriate to separately report the administration of oxygen during an E/M service, as this would be included in the E/M service. Therefore, only the appropriate E/M service code would be reported based upon the key components provided."
