I'm looking for a dx for:
Need for Port-A-Cath secondary to long-term needs of transfusion.

Is there a code specifically for "need for IV access" ?

Can you not code the reason for the "need for transfusion"? That's where I would start.

Where are you finding the "needs" section? I looked under need and transfusion.

No, I mean, can you code the reason he needs the transfusion/infusion in the first place? Cancer, blood loss etc. That's where I would start. There's also the fitting codes, if nothing else works. V58.81 fitting and adjustment of vascular catheter.
