If a patient a patient comes in to have her lipids checked and they are a little over 200, but the patient declines medication and wants to try to control by diet. Would the patient have a dx of hyperlipidema? Or would this dx start from the time a medication is given to control this?

    Default hyperlipids
I don't believe a diagnosis of hyperlipids is dependant upon medication. I know too many who have this problem (myself included) and have never been on medication for it. As long as the Dr. has said it's hyperlipid. It's hyperlipid.
